Empowering Communities for a Healthy Mississippi
In partnership with Mississippi Health Disparities 2025
2024-25 Call for Proposals
Empowering Communities and MHD2025 seeks to address critical health challenges in Mississippi and the broader Gulf South region. The conference is dedicated to highlighting solutions-driven research, innovative practices, and collaborative community-academic partnerships that tackle these pressing health issues. By bringing together a diverse audience of health professionals, researchers, and practitioners, the event fosters interdisciplinary engagement. Session proposals should appeal to both groups and focus on cutting-edge approaches to community engagement (e.g., outreach, communication strategies, participatory methods), social determinants of health, structural interventions (e.g., housing, employment), and the impacts of bias and discrimination. We encourage submissions that consider these themes across various levels of influence—individual, interpersonal, organizational, community, and policy. Proposals are invited in the following focus areas:
- Data Science and Health Informatics
- Environmental Health and Climate Change
- Diabetes, Obesity and Cardiovascular Disease
- Mental Health
- Maternal and Child Health
- Interpersonal Violence and Human Trafficking
- Tobacco, Alcohol and Substance Use/Abuse
- Healthy Aging
- Workforce Development and Leadership
